Interested in gardening? Want to know more about IT?
Are you over 50 or under 25? Intrigued? Then contact Liz Stevens, Community Development Worker on her mobile number 0779 365 8306.
This is for people 50plus who would like to share their experience in gardening/growing vegetables with those under 25. The volunteers will spend some time discussing and agreeing the shared skills and planning this out will help everyone get to know each other.
The initial gardening work will be at Newbridge school, for a 2 hour session. We aim to have IT on alternate weeks again for a 2hour session once we’ve confirmed the venue with our other partners New Directions.. The whole project is for a 16week period.
Anyone from Caversham is welcome to join in.

Reading Festival 2009
Festival Republic applied for a variation in the license and were granted an increase in permitted sound levels off-site, increased ‘early bird’ tickets permitting access on Wednesday ahead of the main entry and an increase of 10,000 tickets phased over three years. CADRA and WADRA worked closely with the organisers and Council Licensing Officers and achieved useful concessions to mitigate the impact on local people.
Complaints and comments received are an important for planning for subsequent festivals - contact Licensing. CADRA and WADRA met the festival organisers and Licensing Team in early December and would welcome comments.
You may have seen signs for free plums at Cross Lanes Farm. This followed discussion on how to overcome the loss of trade during the festival in previous years. Thanks are due to Festival Republic for a successful initiative.
Following the 2009 Reading Festival, Festival Republic commissioned Baker Associates of Bristol to conduct a Business Impact Assessment similar to that conducted for Glastonbury in 2007. The Warren and District Residents Association have analysed the feedback. Click here for the report. Click here for the survey analysis.
Reading University are also undertaking a study on the economic impact of the festival. If you know of traders whose business has been either improved or disadvantaged by the Festival, please refer them to the Caversham Traders Association c/o Delicious in Prospect Street.
