IDR - Updated July 08

The Council issued a proposal to make the Inner Distribution Road one-way running anti-clockwise with 3 lanes, rather than the current 4.

In June 07, the council called a halt to the physical work on the project and set up a public commission with an independent chair to look at current and projected traffic problems in Reading consulting widely to find solutions.

Reading Council approved the one-way working proposal for the IDR at their meeting on 7 September 2006, subject to the Scrutiny Panel on 25th September. Work was scheduled to start early in 2007.

CADRA was concerned about the potential impact on traffic in Caversham and to and from Caversham. CADRA expressed concerns about the proposals and has been trying to get information from RBC so that we could make more informed comments.

Wokingham District Council lodged an application for a judicial review of the scheme.

Update

The Traffic Commission recommended on 1 July 2008 that the One-Way IDR scheme be formally abandoned.
