Route 137Reading Buses have come up with a proposal affecting Route 137. Respond to them by Friday 6th February. Highlights of the changes include: - The current route numbers will disappear and be replaced by brand new services routes 2 and 3 - The new services are intended to be more direct - There will be extra evening, Sunday and in some cases late evening weekend services. - The services will be more regular with more evening and Sunday buses Although the main layout of the services has been decided, there is still time to consider any details that might occur to people before the services are registered with the Traffic Commissioner. The new routes will start on 20th April 2009. Route 2 proposal: Peppard Common/Sonning Common Central Reading Burghfield/MortimerPeppard Common and Sonning Common will be served by route 2, every half an hour on weekdays and hourly in the evening and Sundays. The new route will run across Reading town centre, giving better access than now to town centre stops. Route 2, which will be a cross-town service, will also run every half hour to Burghfield, Burghfield Common and Mortimer, with an hourly evening and Sunday service. New will be very late night journeys from Reading on Friday and Saturday evenings For Peppard Common and Sonning Common areas, the new service would offer: A regular 30 minute frequency of buses to and from Peppard Common on Mondays to Saturdays during the daytime For the Burghfield Common and Mortimer areas improvements include: Buses every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes between Mortimer and Burghfield Common and Central Reading All Route 2 buses will operate via Clay Hill Road in Burghfield Common with a last bus from Reading at 2.30 am. Route 3 proposal: Central Reading Burghfield AWE - TadleyRoute 3 will be operate from Central Reading to Burghfield, Burghfield Common, then direct to AWE and Tadley, providing greatly reduced journey times between Tadley and Reading. For the Tadley area improvements include: A new regular hourly service direct to and from Central Reading
